Our heart is to meet students where they are with the redeeming power of the Gospel until they realize they are seen, heard, and loved by God and us.
Keith and Susan are Cru staff here with us. He is a friend of Joseph’s that he recently recruited to join us in Cru Church Movements as staff. He and his wife had been missionaries in the Philippines and recently moved back to the US and desired to continue in ministry here in CA. Keith has joined us and is partnering with a high school ministry called Parable in Long Beach. The Parable partners with local churches to reach high school students in Long Beach.
Here is a recent praise Keith and Susan shared that we thought would encourage you!
Recently their ministry had 5 days missions week outreach to 17 high school campuses in LA and OC counties. Keith and Susan and took part in the after-school evangelism event at Lakewood High School. They setup a table and told students they could have free pizza if they play cards (Soularium – a card game that shares the Gospel) with them. They shared how amazed they were because multiple groups of 2 to 4 students waited in line to participate.
By God’s grace after going through the Soularium cards with students throughout the day, sharing the love of God to them – 3 students prayed to received Jesus!
Keith shared that as he spoke with another 2 students he asked them – who is God to them? The female student share about God doing miracles in her life and the male student remembered that his mother shared God to him when he was young. Another team member began to share how
God saved him after he jumped from 35 feet high bridge to end his life when he was younger. He shared how God rescued him with only a broken foot and a cracked skull. The doctors told him it was a miracle that he survived that fall. After hearing this testimony that afternoon the 2 students also prayed and gave their life to Jesus!
Through the 5 day missions week about 3,464 students heard the Gospel and 731 student indicated decisions of receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! Please pray for the abundance of High Schoolers in the Long Beach area that are giving their hearts to Jesus. Pray for the students to continue to get involved in the churches in the area. Recently Keith asked his regional director, Doug, and Joseph to meet with him and Hung (the leader of the Parable in Long Beach) to talk about planting urban churches for students and their families to be a part of because the harvest and the urban need is so great.
